Lebyazhye

Wednesday morning we woke up to.... SNOW!!!!!!

It just dusted, but it still looked nice. :D

We went to catch the train to head to the village where my great grandmother lived. (Lebyazhye)

For quite a bit of the 1.5 hour ride, Lucy was glued to the window. Being on a train fascinated her!

The station is basically in the woods. We had to walk through the forest to get to the village.

There are bomb holes from World War Two still there... Lucy was VERY excited to see the bomb holes. I don't know why...

Miss Lucy in the forest.

The Dacha, summer home, where my great grandmother lived. 2 rooms. Literally.

The Church across the way where Mom and Papa got married. :D

The well. None of the dachas have indoor plumbing, people have to go and get their own water.

The village is right by the ocean.. it was lovely!

The forest again...

The train...

Well, we are now in our last days here. We leave for Switzerland on Saturday. I know some of you didn't get to see my dance video, I'll hopefully get a different one tomorrow evening and post it asap.
That's all for now, I'm off to finish my packing!

Swan Lake

So, the next day after Lucy's birthday, Mom and I took her to see her first ballet: Swan Lake. We saw it in a small theatre (for those who know, probably the same size if not smaller than Spencer School theatre!) and the company was small. The company is made up of dancers who didn't get into the major Russian companies for some reason or another. I, personally, didn't really like the ballet, the people who played the main roles had bad technique and bad expression. Prince Siegfried couldn't jump or use his feet and Odette/Odile had no emotion. I was disappointed but it was enjoyable for Lucy. I'm glad she had a good experience and I hope she will always remember her first theatre experience.
The two of us waiting for the doors to open.

Mom and Lucy at intermission... Lucy eating her treat :D

Lucy's Birthday!!!

On November 25th, 2013, our little Lucy turned 6 years old! We had a nice breakfast at home together as a family and then we went out to Babushka's flat for a birthday lunch.
As we walked to the metro, I noticed a beautiful pattern on the sidewalk and I had to take a picture. It was made by the frost!!!

And the cake comes in..

:D Happy Birthday Lucy!!! You're a wonderful sister!!!

Catherine's Palace Inside!

So, on Sunday we went back to Pushkin again. Mainly to go and see the inside of Catherine's Palace.
When we entered the palace, the first room we came to was the ballroom/great hall. The little one there isn't Lucy, but it was so cute that I had to take a pcitre!

Gold!

Large ovens in every room to heat the palace.

A glimpse of the painted ceiling

The sweet room, where guests would come to have their tea.

Ceiling...

Eh, just a hallway, nothing special

Beautiful stone tables and decorations...

A sitting room..

Another ceiling...

The music room

A painted wall

A lunch room

Well, it's beautiful! Lucy absolutely loved it and decided that she needs to live in a palace someday. :)
