Admiring Autumn

Autumn is very much alive in Kelowna, but Winter is rolling in so I'm taking advantage of the last colours of the season. People associate fall with many things... Fall = Spice, Fall = Hunting, Fall = Falling Leaves... ETC. Here's what I've been up to this fall...

Papa and I went hunting one Sunday morning. Although we didn't get anything ourselves, we did see some great wildlife and nature. Like these wild bighorn sheep! I got some cool pictures of him looking for deer through his binoculars... the light was excellent for silhouettes.

We also got the opportunity to go mushrooming as a family and we hit a few jackpots!

I escaped early one morning to catch the sunrise from the top of the hill behind our house... Although it wasn't as spectacular as I had wanted, it was gorgeous.

We also have finished the renovations in our bedroom! A few little things still to be done like a Doctor Who quote on the wall and a couple more boxes to deal with, but for the most part it's all done! You can see the magnificent bookshelves and our wonderful TARDIS on the wall... And of course all the hard work that Papa put into our room.

So yeah, I love fall. I love the crisp air, the colours of the leaves, being able to wear scarves, coats and boots again, tea, pumpkin spice... Being warm and cozy...  It's awesome!!! What do you love about fall!?

Uninspired... Yet Now, Slightly Inspired

I have not written a post in a very long time. I had started many posts, attempting to write a new update, but every time I would run out of writing time or not have the motivation to keep writing...

I really don't know whether I'm going to keep this going or not... Maybe make it a little more random. I'm not travelling the world anymore after all!!

This week hasn't been off to the greatest start, I spent a lot of time on an essay that I really liked but my teacher didn't really like, and I have a lot of work to do with dancing/teaching/choreographing piling up in front of me. On the other hand, I have been out with my camera a bit more in the last little while. Autumn is quite lovely here, all the trees turning colours. When the sky is a piercingly clear blue like it is today, the contrast is even more beautiful.

This morning I hiked up the mountain behind our house to watch the sunrise. It was quite beautiful, but what I found even more beautiful was the fact that I was up there and I could see everyone in the city below, but they couldn't see me. It was almost like I wasn't really there, just in a dream or watching from afar. That's my profoundness for the day...

My bestest friend Megan (yes, I just used the word bestest and no, I'm not crazy) just posted a list of 10 things that she likes (http://carrotsandconverse.blogspot.ca/2014/10/life-isnt-like-chocolate-at-all.html) and she inspired me to do the same.

So to end this post I shall give you my list, in no particular order... Except I'm doing 15 because I have way too many for just 10...

Fifteen Things I Really Like:

1. Good Music. Whether it's Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, some great worship music, wonderful Jazz or an epic soundtrack, I really like listening to music...

2. Vintage things. Anything old gets me excited. Old movies, antiques, old posters, old recipes, OLD ANYTHING...

3. Rain. I love rain. After moving away from (almost daily) rainy weather, I actually miss the smell, the sound and sight of water falling from the sky.

4. Really Good Long Exposure Photos. They just inspire me...

5. Coffee and Cookies. I have a rather large weakness for a good cup of coffee and homemade cookies.

6. Being Sore. I can never get tired of being sore after a hard day at dance. It's one of the best, most rewarding feelings ever!

7. The Forest. Whenever I get a chance, I treasure being in the forest. After growing up in the woods, I miss the daily opportunities to go on little mini adventures...

8. Bunnies. I really do adore little bunnies, now that I'm not irritated by their invasiveness (UVIC) I can start to like them again. Actually... All little animals... Kittens, Ducklings, Kangaroos, Koalas, BABY HUMMINGBIRDS...

9. Long Handwritten Letters. Or even just a little handwritten note. Those MAKE MY DAY. Every time I receive one. And I keep almost all of them forever...

10. My HCOS Friends/Family. I love each and every one of my friends and adopted siblings that I've made through my school. They're all amazing...

11. Disney. I didn't grow up on Disney like a normal child. XD So I'm just getting into it now. All the songs, the stories... Yeah, that's my current obsession!

12. Doctor Who. Disney isn't my only obsession, I'm just a wee bit obsessed with Doctor Who. For those who don't know, it's a British, sci-fi (Yes, I'm watching Sci-fi) TV series. It's awesome. VERY AWESOME. Sofi and I painted a TARDIS on our bedroom wall, and we bought a clock from the dollar store and turned it into a clock with a different Doctor for every hour. I'm going to make myself a scarf just like Tom Baker's and not to mention BOW TIES ARE COOL.

13. Really Good Books. From Tom Sawyer to Anne of Green Gables to the latest book in the River of Time Series to random biographies I have to read for History, I devour books. I love every minute of reading. I always have, and always will. Though I may not always be able to read 200 books in a year, I shall certainly try. :)

14. Dance. Yeah, I know everyone already knows this. But I wouldn't be who I am without it... It's just so much a part of me and my life...

15. "Weird" Tea. Another new thing of mine is tea. I have discovered David's Tea and all the fancy mixes they do. My family calls it "weird tea" but I actually really like it. I never thought I would be the type, but no, it's really nice!

Well there, I've got a new post done.

I shall be back with more later, I have been inspired to write again!
