Downtown St. Petersburg and the Summer Gardens

Yesterday (October 4th) we went downtown to see the Summer gardens, have пышки, and see the Palace Square.
The summer gardens and along the road...
The Eternal Flame, in remembrance of all the victims of revolutions and wars in St. Petersburg.
The beautiful Church of our Saviour on Spilled Blood. In Russian: Церковь на Крови
пышки (pronounced piishki) for lunch!!!! YAY!!! BEST LUNCH EVER! Though not healthy at all... (no veggies involved)
And the Palace Square. In front of the Hermitage palace. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! And the flag of Russia flies atop the palace. :D I'm off for now!

  1. It boggles the mind to think how much fuel would be needed to keep such a place warm in winter!!!

  2. Actually, most of the city is heated by hot water! The pipes are arranged so that they heat the buildings! In apartments, they turn on the hot water in October and they turn it off completely for a month or two in the Summer.
